Seen and Unseen - Artist Statement 

In art, and in life, I strive to reach into where magic and the Great Mystery dwell.

The process of making art brings definition to the ineffable and confounding experiences, the ancestors, the feminine, the Divine and holy curiosity. My work is intimate, souls meeting souls.

Many of the beings that I’m called to paint are deeply rooted in their landscape, and you’re invited in to really see them and encounter what they know through the transmission of their presence.

I’m drawn to the wild stillness, to quiet moments within the process of transformation. Often you’re witnessing someone with their eyes closed amidst a flurry of elements assembling around them. They are centered and fully integrating and receiving what’s coming to them.

I love getting to know each character, and even versions of myself through the act of painting. 

I received my BFA in Printmaking from The Maine College of Art in 2005, and am currently working on completing the Milan Mastery Program. A life long love of color, painting and making multiples through wild mark making brought me to explore print. Through making multiples and the alchemy of the process, I learned the practice of relinquishing the preciousness of my art. Print is inherently collaborative, and learning to create with and in front of others sparked in me a lot of what has now become my work as a teacher and inner life wilderness guide. 

My heart has always desired to paint, and the potency and sequence of study through the Milan Mastery Program has skillfully brought this desire into reality, and I am currently working prolifically and ardently on my portfolio of 30 pieces.

The desire for presence brings me to art - and - brings me to companion friends and strangers alike in my private practice, sometimes at the same time.
